Hypr Network is Going Modular with Celestia Underneath

Hypr Network is going Modular with Celestia Underneath. By leveraging Celestia Data Availability, Hypr Network scales from inception to meet the needs of the next generation of gaming developers building onchain applications.

Hypr Network is excited to announce its integration with @CelestiaOrg Data Availability Layer with the help of our Rollup provider @conduitxyz. We have long admired the team at Celestia for ushering in the modular renaissance and are excited to make Celestia a key part of Hypr Network's architecture.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the quest for scalable, flexible, and secure decentralized applications - we believe this will improve the developer experience of game devs in addition to the user experience of players.

Celestia takes a unique approach in the blockchain space by separating the building blocks of blockchain technology. This means that developers can create specialized blockchain applications more easily. This approach improves how scalable, flexible, and interoperable these applications can be, which is a significant shift in how decentralized applications are developed.

We recently announced that Hypr has chosen Conduit as its Rollup Platform. With the help of Conduit, Hypr represents its first custom execution client on Celestia DA.

The integration with Celestia is poised to bring new opportunities to the developers building on Hypr. By integrating Celestia's modular data availability service into Hypr's infrastructure, we aim to solve the data availability challenge with inventive solutions. This integration opens up exciting possibilities for the entire on chain gaming  ecosystem.

What is Data Availability and Why is it Important?

Data availability refers to ensuring that all relevant information, particularly transaction data, is accessible and verifiable by network nodes. L2 solutions are designed to improve the scalability and efficiency of blockchain networks by processing transactions off the main Ethereum chain and then settling the results on the main chain. Hypr Network benefits from Celestia in multiple ways:

  1. Scalability and Throughput: L2 solutions, including Hypr, aim to handle a higher throughput of transactions than the underlying layer-1 blockchain, such as Ethereum. As transaction volume increases, ensuring that data is readily available and efficiently accessible becomes crucial for maintaining optimal performance.
  2. Reduced Main Chain Load: L2 solutions alleviate congestion on the main chain by processing a significant portion of transactions off-chain. However, the main chain is still essential for settlement and security. A robust data availability solution ensures that transaction data is reliably accessible off-chain while maintaining the necessary connection with the main chain.
  3. Security and Trustlessness: Data availability is a critical component of the security model in blockchain networks. In L2 scenarios, where certain computations occur off-chain, participants need a way to trustlessly verify that the outcomes are valid and consistent. A data availability layer, like Celestia, provides a mechanism for confirming the existence and correctness of off-chain transaction data.
  4. Decentralization: L2 solutions often involve various participants, including validators, users, and potentially different execution environments. A data availability solution ensures that all relevant parties can independently verify the status of transactions without relying on a centralized authority, promoting decentralization and trustlessness.
  5. Efficient Light Client Verification: For users or nodes that do not want to download and store the entire transaction history, efficient light client verification mechanisms become crucial. Data availability solutions, such as Celestia's Data Availability Sampling (DAS), enable light nodes to verify the presence of data without downloading the entire block, improving efficiency.

Modular Architecture Advantages

Celestia's modular blockchain architecture offers several advantages over traditional monolithic designs:

  • Developers can define their virtual execution environments effortlessly.
  • Hypr Network enjoys its own dedicated blockspace for gaming developers to deploy applications onto while keeping costs low

Key Features of Celestia's Data Availability Layer:

  1. Data Availability Sampling (DAS): Enables light nodes to verify data availability without the need to download an entire block.
  2. Namespaced Merkle Trees (NMTs): Empowers execution and settlement layers on Celestia to download transactions relevant to them, enhancing efficiency.

Conclusion

A data availability solution is integral for L2 blockchains like Hypr to maintain scalability, reduce costs of storing data on the L1, enhance security, and foster decentralization by ensuring efficient and trustless access to transaction data. The Celestia integration represents a significant step towards a more scalable and modular future.
